500 Thousand Square Meters Worth $16 Million Afghan Carpet Export Last Year
Statistics from the Chamber of Commerce and Investment show that more than 500,000 square meters of Afghan carpets worth $ 16 million were exported last year.
The Chamber of Commerce and Investment says that more than 800,000 square meters of carpets have been exported this year, an increase from last year.
The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, Mohammad Younes Momand, says that about $ 31 million worth of domestic carpets have been exported this year. "This year, we are producing more carpets and we have exported carpets to other countries at a cost of 31 million dollars," said Mohammad Younes Momand.
According to union officials, due to rising unemployment, many people have turned to carpet weaving, and carpet production has increased by 20 percent compared to the past, but is not exported through the airway.
"Provide us with a global market and be able to find the same donors who have previously invested in Afghanistan to finance us so that we can grow carpet production," said Ayamuddin, a national carpet trader.
"Unfortunately, the problems we have with carpet exports are the means of transportation that we can not access the world markets at the same time," said Farid Ahmad Karimzadeh, another businessman.
