According To The World Food Program, 95% Of Afghans Do Not Have Enough Food

Date: Feb 19, 2022, 13:54

The World Food Program says hunger has hurt most Afghans in the capital, Kabul.

The Asia-Pacific division of the agency tweeted on Friday (18 Feb) that in addition to increasing hunger, the situation of those who had no income in the cold of winter worsened last month.

Relevant UN agencies, including the World Food Program, warned before the onset of winter that the Afghan people were in serious danger of malnutrition.

David Beasley, the agency's chief executive at the time, said that Afghanistan was facing food shortages every day compared to the previous day.

Mr Beasley had predicted that the situation would get worse as winter approached as families thought about rescuing their children from starvation or cold weather.

Over the past month, eight out of every 10 families with incomes have dropped dramatically.

The Office for Child Protection says in a new report that nearly five million children in Afghanistan are malnourished.
