Afghanistan Paid About 260 Dollars Million To Import Electricity From Neighbor Countries In One Year

Officials of Breshna Company say that last year, Afghanistan imported electricity worth more than 260 million dollars from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran.

Abdulrahman Rahmani, the head of Breshna Company, said in his annual report on Sunday, 14th of Gemini, that this company paid 96 million dollars for the purchase of electricity to Tajikistan in 2022 alone.

According to Mr. Rahmani, 94 million dollars were paid to Uzbekistan and 62 million dollars to Iran last year.

In addition to importing electricity from neighboring countries, the Afghanistan Electricity Company has also transferred 22.3 million Afghanis to domestic electricity production companies.

According to information, now around 75% of Afghanistan's electricity needs are supplied from neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, Kabul alone needs 500 to 800 megawatts of electricity in different seasons.
