Iran: We Are Cooperating To Complete The Khaf-Herat Railway
The representative of the President of Iran in Afghanistan has discussed with the head of the Islamic Emirate Railway Department increasing cooperation in the Khaf-Herat railway sector.
On Monday, the 19th of June, the Iranian embassy wrote in a tweet that Kazemi Qomi, in his meeting with Bakht al-Rahman Sharaft, head of the Islamic Emirate Railway Department, announced preparations for increasing rail cooperation with Afghanistan.
Qomi also said that his country is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in the completion of the Khaf-Herat railway.
The embassy added: "There was an exchange of views on the increase of railway cooperation, including the operation of the Khaf-Herat railway, the completion and continuation of the route, and educational, technical, and equipment cooperation."
It should be mentioned that after planning the construction of the Khaf-Herat railway in 1386, the practical work of this project started in 1399.
This route is 225 kilometers long, of which 77 kilometers are in Iran and 149 kilometers are in Afghanistan.
