Abdullah al-Dardari, head of the United Nations Development Program in Afghanistan, said the United Nations had taken millions of dollars to Afghanistan and deposited them in the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. According to him, the Central Bank of Afghanistan had made a clear promise that the money would be automatically converted into Afghanis.
"This has not happened," said the head of the United Nations Development Program in Afghanistan, who spoke at the Global Sanctions Summit, according to Reuters. Al-Dardari says the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) also has $ 30 million stuck in the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (AIB) and cannot be converted into Afghanis. According to him, the program of this institution cannot be implemented without Afghans.
The Taliban, known as the "Islamic Emirate", seized power on August 15 and then banned the use of the dollar and any other foreign currency in the country.
The decision was made to keep the Afghani stable against the dollar. At the same time, it was reported that the banks' dollar reserves were depleted.
