Afghan Traders Oppose Iranian Offer Of Fuel Contract

Date: Nov 23, 2021, 12:52

Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment says Iran wants to supply fuel to Afghan traders through a private Iranian company called a "refinery".

Younes Momand, deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce, said: "Only the National Iranian fuel Company can supply quality fuel to Afghan traders and transfer it to the border between the two countries, and this issue should be discussed with Iranian officials."

Jan Agha Sadeqi, one of Afghanistan's fuel importers, said: "The production of the Iranian refinery company is not equal to the standards of Afghanistan and the region, and if the Iranian government wants to meet the fuel needs of Afghan traders and people, a contract must be made with the National Iranian fuel Company."

Mr Sadeqi said the Iranian government had not taken any practical action on previous contracts and money that Afghan traders had previously paid to buy fuel but had not yet obtained.
