The Taliban government's Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation says discussions are under way between the Qatari and Turkish technical teams and the group's officials over the management of five Afghan airports in Kabul.

A spokesman for the Qatari-Turkish delegation arrived in Kabul yesterday to discuss the management of Afghanistan's airspace, and the two sides began discussions, the ministry spokesman, Imam al-Din Ahmadi, told reporters on Friday (December 24th).

Even before the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan, Turkey had expressed readiness to provide security and manage Kabul Airport.

Teams and experts from Turkey and Qatar also worked together to reopen and prepare Kabul Airport for flights after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

Earlier, the Taliban government's Ministry of Transport and Aviation said that currently no flights would pass through the country's airspace, but with the signing of a contract with the Qatari and Turkish technical teams, flights would be resumed from Afghanistan.
