4.6 Billion Dollars Are Needed To Help More Than 20 Million Needy People In Afghanistan

Date: Apr 26, 2023, 11:05

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) has once again requested 4.6 billion dollars from the international community to help more than 20 million people in need in Afghanistan in 2023.

(OCHA) wrote on it’s Twitter page on Tuesday (25 April) that Afghanistan is facing the third consecutive year of drought, the second year of severe economic crisis, the consequences of several decades of war and natural disasters. According to this aid organization, humanitarian aid is the last chance to save the majority of the country's population.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) has added that due to the lack of funds, aid organizations have reduced their aid to Afghans.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of this year, the United Nations asked the international community to provide 4.6 billion dollars in humanitarian aid to help nearly 24 million people in Afghanistan.

According to OCHA's findings, out of 43.1 million people, 28.3 million need help, 51% of whom are men and 49% of whom are women.

OCHA added that only $250 million or 5.4 percent of the total aid requested by the international organization was provided in the first three months of this year.
