The Taliban say the Kabul airport situation has been discussed with the UAE and expanding
Foreign diplomats have reported that UAE officials had some series meetings with the Taliban officials in recent weeks to discuss Kabul airport operations.
Qatar, as the host country of the Taliban political bureau and facilitator of the US-Taliban negotiations that led to the signing of the agreement between the two sides, has considerable influence among the Taliban.
Qatar together with Turkey, assisted the Taliban in activating and managing Kabul airport after the complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.
The UAE has also had contacts with Taliban leaders in recent years, and some prominent Taliban figures live in the country.
