Work Underway To Increase Kajaki Dam Capacity To 150 MW
The Taliban say that with the completion of work on the Kajaki dam, the dam's power generation capacity will increase.
Taliban officials say work has been completed on rebuilding the Kajaki Dam to increase power generation capacity by up to 90 percent, and that the dam's power generation capacity will increase to 150 megawatts by next month.
Currently, the Kajaki dam generates fifty-one megawatts of electricity, and reconstruction work is underway on the dam to increase its capacity to one hundred and fifty megawatts.
On the other hand, some experts believe that increasing the capacity of the Kajaki dam will reduce electricity shortages in Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
Amanullah Ghalib, the former head of Breshna, said: "The power line that reaches Kandahar from Kajaki is two hundred kilometers long and does not have capacity. "Breshna must increase the capacity of these lines so that its electricity can be used in the southern provinces."
