Asian Development Bank Announces $ 405 Million In Aid To Afghanistan
According to the bank, the aid will be provided through four relevant UN agencies.
The aid will be used to provide food security and co-operation in the field of health and education in Afghanistan, according to a newsletter released yesterday (5 Aquarius) from the ADB headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
The United Nations estimates that some 23 million people in Afghanistan face food insecurity.
According to the bank's newsletter, about 170,000 people in Afghanistan will be covered in food and work programs for money.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) will receive at least $ 200 million in assistance to provide health services to 5.3 million people in Afghanistan.
UNICEF will continue to provide funding to some 10,000 teachers.
