Russia’s Preparation To Renovate The Salang Tunnel
Dmitri Zhirnov, the Russia’s ambassador in Kabul, announced that Russia is ready to renovate the Salang tunnel, if necessary. Speaking to Russia 24 TV network, Mr. Zhirnov said: "The pipe producers in Russia are ready to join the TAPI project and the renovation of the Salang tunnel, and in this way, it is possible to solve the traffic problem in the Salang tunnel.
The Salang tunnel connects the north of Afghanistan to the south, but it always faces technical problems. Especially in the winter, when it is blocked with snow.
The Russian ambassador said: "Commercial cooperation between Russia and Afghanistan is possible, but it should be beneficial for both."
At the same time, the Russian ambassador said: "Our business is still testing the Islamic financial norms that the Islamic Emirate is implementing."
