Goods Drivers Concerns About Security Threats In Iran Trading Paths
Iranian officials assure that they will investigate the matter and prevent any extortion or harassment of drivers in the country.
A number of Afghan drivers traveling between Iran and Afghanistan say that individuals use weapons to threaten drivers of transit vehicles on Iranian soil and steal their property.
Afghan drivers transporting commercial goods add that they have no life or financial security on Iranian soil.
"We have no security, we can not go anywhere, they lower and take our goods , they even pull the car lights and also take the fuel," said Arash, one of the drivers.
however, Local officials in Herat says they have discussed the problems of Afghan drivers with Iranian officials and the problems will be resolved soon.
Mohajer Farahi: director of Herat customs, says extortion and illegal money extraction from Afghan drivers in Iran is not acceptable. "We handed over these cases and the taking of illegal money in writing to the Iranian authorities and they said that they would investigate and solve these problems.
