Generally, sandy, loamy, clayey, and loamy-clayey soils with a pH of about 4-6 are suitable for saffron cultivation. This plant is commonly grown in regions with cold winters, hot summers, and moderate altitudes. Additionally, saffron needs soil that has been broken and improved, and it grows better in lands where other crops have been previously cultivated.

Competition with counterfeits:

Due to the high value of saffron, global markets are faced with issues of fraud and counterfeiting regarding this product, which can lead to a decrease in customer trust.

Climate change:

Climate change and unfavorable weather conditions can negatively impact the quality and quantity of saffron production and pose further challenges for farmers.

Nevertheless, saffron trade is recognized as one of the most profitable trades globally, providing significant economic value to producing and exporting countries. Furthermore, global markets, considering the high properties and quality of saffron, are always seeking to supply this product at appropriate prices and ideal quality.
