Possibility Of Afghanistan Involvement In CPEC Project

Pakistani media reported that Imran Khan had discussed the matter with Chinese officials during his three-day visit to Beijing.

Meanwhile, some businessmen say that Afghanistan's involvement in this project will affect the development of the economy and trade growth in the country.

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment believes that if Afghanistan joins the CPEC, the economy will improve.

"I think that Afghanistan can participate in any project that is in the interest of Afghanistan and the region, while preserving its economic interests," said Mohammad Younis Momand, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment. "This is in Afghanistan's interest."

Meanwhile, a joint statement issued after Imran Khan met with Chinese President Xi Jinping said officials from both countries had stressed the importance of the port of Gwadar as the central pillar of the CPEC in connecting the region.

China has invested more than $ 40 billion in the CPEC or China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project and wants to increase its trade with countries in the region.
