SIGAR: Afghanistan Does Not Have The Technical Capacity To Print Its Own Money

The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) says Afghanistan does not have the technical capacity to print its own money.
SIGAR tweeted on Sunday, adding that the Taliban had not yet established an internal reference to print the Afghan notes bank.
According to the agency, banks in Afghanistan do not yet have sufficient reserves and restrictions on payments have not been lifted.
SIGAR added that the office of former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had signed a 10 billion afghani printing contract with a Polish company in January 2020.
