UNAMA Donates $ 16 Million In Cash To Afghanistan
The Central Bank of Afghanistan says it received $ 16 million for the first time last week through the United Nations as part of a series of humanitarian assistance.
The Central Bank of Afghanistan said in a statement that they transferred the money from Kabul Airport to the International Bank of Afghanistan yesterday.
The money has reached Afghanistan while the international community and aid agencies are helping the needy in Afghanistan, not directly through the Taliban government, but through charities and UN agencies.
"Afghanistan Bank has always tried to work in various ways to reduce poverty in the country, we welcome all measures taken to reduce poverty in the country," said Hasibaullah Nouri, Public Relations Officer of the Central Bank of Afghanistan in a video message. "We call for constructive engagement with the international community to revitalize and normalize the banking situation in order to provide effective services to our compatriots."
The World Bank has welcomed the release of $ 280 million in Afghanistan's foreign exchange reserves, but the money will be used after approval by 31 World Bank donors through the World Food Program and the United Nations Children's Fund.
